Most of the patients come from Westland or areas nearby because many do not have reliable transportation and cannot afford health insurance. Once they make it to Hope, our volunteer doctors, nurse, pharmacist, therapist and social worker do all they can to help that patient as much as possible. Most come for medical issues when they have nowhere else to turn. Many have multiple issues and need medication or to see a specialist, and we do all we can to refer them or get them assistance. Some simply need someone to listen. We need monetary assistance to help them, such as glucose test strips for diabetics, computers to keep track of patients and their needs, pregnancy test kits or blood pressure cuffs. Not a dollar we receive is ever wasted. Many people come to us having waited a long time for care. No one is turned away.
