Montmorency County Commission on Aging
Posted By: Anna M. Rogers, Executive Director (July 25, 2019)
In 2015 the Montmorency County Commission on Aging implemented a Volunteer Medical Transportation Program for the senior citizens of the county that do not have a way to get to their medical appointments. A start-up grant was given to MCCOA that will be depleted by the end of 2019.
The program is based on a sliding fee schedule to determine what amount, if any, our seniors must contribute (most donate zero). Volunteer drivers donate their time and only receive mileage reimbursement for the use of their vehicle.
To date we have provided 347 rides totaling 18,567 miles to our seniors. Without additional funds,we will not be able to continue this critical program to our aging population.
Thank you for considering this request.
