Currently, 309 children and teens in foster care who are hoping to find their forever families through adoption are featured on the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) website. MARE, which is a program operated by Judson Center, is a statewide information and referral service that helps connect families to these waiting youth. Once matched with a child, MARE’s Match Support Program offers parents in-home services, educational resources, and on-going support. With $1,000, Match Support can purchase a library collection of DVDs that teach parents TBRI, an attachment-based, trauma-informed method for connecting with and supporting youth from hard places. It would also provide funds to help pre-adoptive families in need, especially those impacted by COVID-19, who are struggling to afford things like weighted blankets for children with special needs or extra gas money to go visit teens at distant residential facilities. Thank you for your consideration!
