Mi Work Matters aka Anastasia and Katies Coffee Shop

Posted By: Kelly Rockwell (June 30, 2021)
When asked: What do you want to be when you grow up? Alone on my parent’s couch is not a likely answer. Yet that is the reality for most adults with disabilities facing an 85% unemployment rate.

Students exit school-based programs at age 26 and are left to pursue employment opportunities that simply do not exist. Mi Work Matters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to increase employment options for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). We do this through grassroots advocacy and directly employing people with I/DD at our award winning, inclusive program – Anastasia and Katie’s Coffee Shop & Cafe. Our Employment Ambassadors are a group of self advocates trained and paid to give presentations to businesses – which resulted in our first partnership with an employer to successfully hire someone with a disability.

$1000 will help us put some great people to work!
