SandCastles Grief Support

I volunteer for SandCastles which provids FREE grief support for children and their family that have lost a loved one. Before the pandemic, they offered several in person sessions around metro Detroit each week and a yearly in person camp with hundreds of kids. All at no charge to the families. Presently, they still offer support virtually as they figure out how to get back to in person sessions. This service is invaluable as it offers an outlet for children to understand their grief, relate to others experiencing similar things and provides tools to the adults in their lives to help them on a day to day basis. As a volunteer, this is a life changing experience and SC deserves extra funding to help support these children as they navigate grief.

*Nominees must be a 501(c)(3) organization, associated with an accredited educational institution or a recognized community support organization serving the communities within Community Financial's field of membership. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of Community Financial team members and will be awarded based upon the judges own evaluation and discretion. All decisions of the panel are final.
