From The Hood For The Hood
Posted By: Byron DeMarco Brooks (June 1, 2022)
Every year, nearly 2,000 babies are born in prison. In 1995, Byron Brooks was in that statistic, but being raised by his great grandparents granted his hope that he wouldn’t live out his life defined by a number.
Brooks was homeless for two years while in community college. Still, he refused to let his circumstances define him — as he remained on the dean’s list and graduated with honors. Now 27, Brooks is a Grad Student at The University of Michigan Ann Arbor and a community activist in Detroit and around the country. He is the Founder of 501c3 From The Hood For The Hood. A Non-Profit Dedicated to developing, empowering, and engaging young people and communities that are often overlooked. While being a training catalyst for Social Justice and Fighting against Homelessness.

Posted By: David Kochan (June 1, 2022)
Bridges Employment Services & Training, All-Ways Care is a non-profit agency that helps persons with disabilities achieve their goals and attain independence through employment programs and other activities. Our mission is to provide individuals with residential, community, employment and self-determination support in a manner that promotes individual dignity, quality of life and community integration.
Our two main focuses for support are our Skill Building classes and our Community Closet. We are using resources to expand our Skill Building classes to offer a wide range of age-appropriate topics and resources to help with individual needs. Skill Building classes support specific areas of need to prepare and support individuals in everyday life and on the jobsite. Our Community Closet provides individuals with free clothing and toiletry products. The $1000 Community Grant will help support these resources for the individuals we support.

They rely on donations from businesses and individuals to hire the professional musicians that work with the choir. Director, accompanist and the Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra. LIVONIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Posted By: NAOMI LONG (June 1, 2022)
I am a McKinney Vento Liaison for Livonia Public Schools. We reach out to many homeless families who are in need of many things. One of those things are supplies, such as toiletries. I would like to provide families with soaps, lotions, deodorants, & other necessities to make their transition smooth. I would also like to focus some of the money toward homeless girls that are in need of feminine hygiene products, bras, and underwear. Different ethnicities require certain products/needs, and I would like to provide that for them. These funds would be used to provide our homeless families with the necessities that they need while going through a difficult hardship. Thank you!
