SUMMER OF SHARING

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 65 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of everything we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.

2020 has been a year of unprecedented firsts. And while many things have changed and our summer activities may not be the same this year, Community Financial remains committed to helping the communities we serve.

10 Years of Sharing!

This year, we’re celebrating 10 Years of Sharing and we’re excited to support 60 great organizations this summer—with your help! Community Financial will donate $60,000 to nonprofit, educational and community organizations* throughout Michigan! That's $1,000 a day every Monday – Friday from June 8, 2020 – August 28, 2020.

GSMISTS-Camp Woodlands

Posted By: Evonne Jasman (August 12, 2020)
We are Camp Woodlands - Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore council owned Girl Scout camp. This camp was built in the late 1950s and has given girls the opportunity to explore nature, learn to cook indoors and outdoors, lots of singing and skits, lots of good times and helped girls grow into successful women with courage, confidence, and character.
This camp needs a lot of renovations to become ADA compliant with barrier free rooms. We have raised the roof, completed the bunk room, added a cement ramp, and fixed the fireplace. We are currently working on raising funds for the bathroom by taking part of the bunk room to make a larger bathroom and turning the current bathroom into a wet room. We are currently approximately $14,000 short of our goal to start this phase of our renovations. We want all girls to have the experience camp!

Novi Meadows Parent Organization

Novi Meadows Parent Organization is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting the needs of teachers and students at Novi Meadows Elementary, the 5th and 6th grade school in Novi.

This year, the principals and teachers have identified the need for a selection of diverse and inclusive books for class read-alouds. This donation would help us supply books, particularly by authors of color, to promote dialogue about diversity and inclusion in our school.

Midwest Rabbit Rescue & Rehome

MWRRR is a no kill, all volunteer shelter for rabbits and they do really great work rescuing and rehoming hundreds of rabbits from other shelters who may not be best equipped to handle them, all on a shoestring budget! The volunteers are very passionate and caring, and they could use funds for life saving surgeries, toys, food, and cleaning supplies to keep the rabbits happy and healthy.

Open Arms Lutheran Church and Daycare

Posted By: Katherine Gorka (August 10, 2020)
Open Arms church and daycare have a great impact on the Belleville and surrounding community. During these challenging times that they entire country is facing, they have constantly been providing support and safe childcare to those that especially need it right now. Because they are a nonprofit, like so many others, there has been a hit in funds. If given the $1000 grant they will be able to continue to pay employees so that childcare can be provided to all those working the front lines, and also those trying to get back to work.

The TEARS Foundation

Posted By: Laurie Carpenter (August 10, 2020)
The Michigan chapter of The TEARS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to compassionately lift a financial burden from families who have lost a baby, by providing funds to assist with the cost of burial or cremation services. We also provide grief support through programs and one-on-one conversations.

We believe that every baby's life deserves to be honored and memorialized in accordance with the grieving parents' wishes, and are committed to assisting bereaved parents with this experience. But we need help from the community.

TEARS typically holds two large fundraisers each year, but COVID-19 has paused many of these events throughout the U.S. Help from Community Financial's Summer of Sharing program would allow us to continue assisting families here in Michigan; families who are dealing with an unspeakable loss during already difficult times. You have supported us before, and we hope we can count on your generosity again.
