Summer of Sharing.org: what good could you do with $1000?

Summer of Sharing Campaign

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 65 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of what we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.

Strong business can only grow from a strong community that benefits everyone, which is why helping nonprofits, educational, and community groups is a part of our culture. We believe these groups have a tremendous impact on the communities we serve and it’s both our responsibility and pleasure to support them. We are committed to the communities where we do business and have devoted both time and money to help them succeed. Partnerships with local school districts, The Salvation Army, United Way, and American Cancer Society are just a few of the ways we are making a difference.

To help build stronger communities, we are reaching out to our neighbors and asking for your help. Think about it.

Our Summer of Sharing Program has concluded for 2018.

This summer we chose from 266 stories submitted on this site and awarded (60) $1,000 grants to organizations in Michigan! Click the See button to view the charities, community groups and school programs we were able to support this year.

This charity builds and delivers beds who don't have a bead of their own. Something, that a lot of people take for granted. A bed doesn't just allow for a goodnight sleep, it allows a child a better education. With a bed, they're not falling asleep in class and they aren't grumpy causing in appropriate behavior.

Supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace is helping kids and our future.

It was sad this here and see how many children sleep on the floor because their parents are not able to supply them with a bed. Understandably parents fall on hard times whatever their story might be but this organization saw the need and how much of an impact it can have a child’s capability to learn when they have a proper bed or the lack of one. Whatever their story might be, we have the opportunity to pay it forward and help these parents provide a good nights sleep for these children. It is a known statistic that children that do not get a good nights sleep do not learn to their potential! This organization is working to change that.

We started a chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Metro Detroit in April of this year. We built and deliver bunk beds to children in need. We have already built 24 beds and delivered 9 beds. We need donations for bedding, tools and supplies. We were on channel 4 news last night at http://bit.ly/shppriya they also did a small story on our build day http://bit.ly/SHPPryaMann1. We would love to see CFCU sponsor a bunk bed build day. It is a great team building project.
