TACKLE - Together Against Cancer Kept Local Everyday - helps residents of Otsego County as they navigate through their cancer journey. One component of TACKLE is the TACKLE van, which provides daily transportation to radiation treatments. With the rising gas prices over the summer, our costs have risen substantially. A $1,000 gift to the TACKLE van would give us the ability to purchase 285 gallons of gas; this would cover approximately 75 days of transportation. Not only does the van provide transportation, but it also provides fellowship and camaraderie for the patients. Cancer patients share the ride ... but also support and friendship.
Please support our community members in their cancer journey.
American Legion Post #391
Posted By: John Lockwood (August 28, 2022)
The American Legion helps veterans with donations made annually through our Poppy Drive. We solicit donations in exchange for a poppy; The 'poppy' became a symbol of the sacrifice of lives in war and represents the hope that no one died in vain. People wear them as a tribute to the fallen. Some of the many endeavors we get involved with is the Fisher House in Ann Arbor; Fisher House is a place that families can stay at, complimentarily, if their loved one is terminally ill. It is a warm & compassionate environment for families during a difficult time. We assist veterans in providing a steak dinner annually, provide coffee & donuts at the Veterans Hospital, fund an annual brunch for veterans & their families, just to name a few. Our goal is to never forget those who have fought for our freedom.
GrieveWell

GrieveWell seeks to build a community that promotes healthy grieving and healing so that adults can grieve well and lead a full life after loss. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, GrieveWell provides resources and support to adults in grief, as well as those who surround them. Together, we can surround those in grief with hope, healing, and healthy practices so that they can lead a full life after loss. I have benefited from the FREE workshops and webinars that the agency offers after suddenly losing my father. They also offer peer counselors who can walk your grief and healing journey with you. It's really a one-of-a-kind resource in our community!
First Baptist Church

I nominate The First Baptist Church of Lewiston, MI, so they can bring the Food Truck into to Lewiston to help feed the people of Lewiston and surrounding area. That is why I am nominating the church.
Hillman Christian Academy

I nominate HCA for donation of the day because they serve a rural, low-income area that values their children, wants only the best for them. HCA provides that, an education whereby the kids are put first, and in a loving, safe manner, are taught according to their skill level. They are encouraged to think for themselves, be creative, and to value honesty, generosity, truth, loyalty, and integrity. These virtues lead to producing adults who can lead others and think logically. There is also an after school program for the kids.
HCA is a non-profit that depends heavily on donations for school supplies and specialty reading materials, among other things. Won't you help us to help the kids?! Thank you for your consideration!
