Seedlings Braille Books for Children

For every 100 books a sighted child has, a blind child may have five. Braille books are rare and expensive, often costing over $100 each!
Seedlings Braille Books for Children produces and distributes braille books to blind children, giving half of them away free. The other half are sold for an average of $10 a book.
Braille literacy often makes the difference between poverty and prosperity. Seventy percent of blind adults in the U.S. are unemployed or underemployed. But of the 30 percent who work full-time, 90 percent are fluent in braille.
The need for braille books for blind kids is even greater due to Covid-19. Children with vision loss don’t have the same opportunities as sighted children to find reading resources outside of school.
With $1,000, Seedlings could produce and distribute 100 more braille books to blind children, increasing the opportunity for them to lead successful, independent lives.
