Zelphia's Community Kitchen

Zelphia’s Community kitchen, run by 21-year-old Victoria Trudell has helped feed those in need over the past 18 months. Driven by a family legacy to alleviate hunger, Victoria and her grandfather work every week to gather hundreds of boxes of donated food from Gleaners and other charitable organizations. At the Zelphia’s Community Kitchen distribution sites, hundreds of people in Novi, Wayne or Westland line up in their cars, and Victoria and her volunteers load the food into the vehicles. The families receive fresh produce, canned and dry goods. This fall, Victoria plans to offer Thanksgiving dinner distribution for 500 of the families she serves. She will provide all the makings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The cost of this will be approximately $8,000. A donation from the Community Financial Summer of Sharing would help provide a bountiful Thanksgiving for area families in need.
