AAUW’s research on the gender pay gap shows that, one year out of college, women are already paid significantly less than men — just 82 percent of what their male peers were paid. And those lost potential earnings add up over a lifetime.
Women who negotiate increase their potential to earn higher salaries and better benefits packages. By negotiating fair and equitable salaries, they will be better able to pay off loans, buy the things they want and need, and even save for retirement.
This award will allow us to pay for licensing fees and printing and offer the Start Smart wage negotiation seminar to young women in our community, including at Eastern Michigan University, Schoolcraft College, and OCC, and others. This will allow young women to build a better financial future for themselves and our community, thereby benefiting all of us.
Thank you for considering this application.
