Norwayne Movie Matinee in the Park
The Norwayne Community Citizens Council (NCCC) was formed in 2009 to enhance community pride and participation through community inclusion, social justice advocacy, annual events and collaborative partnerships.
Built during WWII, Norwayne is Westland's most historic, yet economically-challenged, neighborhood. The Norwayne subdivision qualifies for Federally funded Community Development projects and 85% of students qualify for free lunches.
The NCCC works in partnership with the City, local churches and non-profit organizations to add the human element to neighborhood revitalization efforts.
NCCC promotes community enhancement by encouraging safe and friendly neighborhoods, social and educational programs and responsible property care.
In July, the NCCC will sponsor "Movie Matinee in the Park", inviting all residents to enjoy a movie, popcorn and games. The NCCC will hold the movie event at Lincoln-Johnson Field.
NCCC will use grant funds to offset the cost of the movie and equipment.
