Otsego County Food Pantry
Posted By: Bob Wright (June 6, 2016)
The mission of the Otsego County Food Pantry is to distribute emergency food to people who live or work in Otsego County. The distribution is made possible through charitable contributions of funding and /or food.
Many people face a constant struggle to provide food for their families. Others occasionally need help when faced with unexpected expenses, illness or loss of income. These people sometimes have to make tough decisions between food, utilities or medications.
In 2015, the pantry served 6,881 of the county's 24,000 residents, of those; 2,473 were children and 595 were senior citizens. In addition to the people we served at the pantry, we also fed nearly 250 school children each weekend with backpacks of nutritious foods to supplement weekend meals at home and will continue to do so for the summer months.
Hunger in America will probably never go away; $1,000 would greatly help in our fight against it.
