Foster Closet of Wayne County - Western Branch

Posted By: Laura Jackson (June 5, 2016)
The Foster Closet of Wayne County – Western Branch is a great resource for foster children and parents. The Foster Closet provides clothing, underclothing, toys, shoes, baby equipment, gear, and in some cases, furniture, to children placed in the foster care system in Michigan. Many foster children leave their homes or abusive families with only a few belongings. Providing them with new clothing and essential items to call their own helps with their transition to a new place and to build the child’s self-esteem. It also helps alleviate the financial burden for the foster families that take in the children. With $1,000, the Foster Closet of Wayne County – Western Branch could purchase new socks, underwear, hygiene products, diapers and wipes to replenish the closet.
