School Violence Prevention Coalition

Posted By: nicole wassel (July 9, 2022)
After the tragic events in Oxford, MI in December 2021, bewildered, overwhelmed, and petrified parents sought to come together in hope and action rather than give in to despair. Two of these parents, never having met before, formed the School Violence Prevention Coalition (SVPC). The coalition follows the framework of the Sandy Hook; safeandsoundschools.org. Together these determined mothers have helped PCCS in assembling safety buckets for every High School classroom, coordinating community education programs, and synergized with student groups.
The VISION of the SVPC at P-CCS is an emotionally and physically safe school environment in which all P-CCS students can learn, thrive and achieve.
The MISSION of the SVPC is to create the safest possible learning environments for all P-CCS students, staff, and guests through positive, non-partisan collaboration with P-CCS educators/staff, parents/caregivers, students, and community members and organizations to support and assist P-CCS in preventing, preparing, responding and recovering from crisis situations.
