Vanderbilt Branch Library

The Vanderbilt Branch of the Otsego County Library would like to build a StoryWalk at the new Gateway Trailhead Park in downtown Vanderbilt, adjacent to the North Central State Trail. StoryWalk is an innovative way to promote early literacy, physical activity and family time together in nature. Pages from a children’s book are mounted under plexiglass to wooden platforms, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you are directed to the next page in the story. The first StoryWalk in Otsego County was built at the Otsego Conservation Demonstration Gardens in Gaylord, where children and adults enjoy a new “Tale on the Trail” each season. A $1,000 gift would allow us to purchase all materials need for volunteers to complete the project. CFCU would be recognized with signage showing their support for adding this new activity for Vanderbilt village residents and visitors.
