Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan - Girl Scouts Beyond Bars

In 2011, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan created a mother-daughter Girl Scout Troop #47005 at the Huron Valley Women’s Correctional Facility in Milan as part of a national program called Girl Scouts Beyond Bars. The Troop meets twice a month, at the correctional facility, to plan and complete Girl Scout curriculum with a focus on contributing positively to their communities. We facilitate a supportive environment for the girls and their mothers to interact in an open and honest manner.
Our Washtenaw/Western Wayne County Regional Center facilitates the program for Girl Scouts in the state of Michigan. Though they meet in a unique setting, we work hard to offer these Girl Scouts the best possible outcomes. This year, the girls have asked to experience a week of camp and we want to make that happen. All funds received will allow them to attend camp – just like every other Girl Scout.
