Seedlings Braille Books for Children

Posted By: Karen Smith (June 1, 2018)
With $1,000, Seedlings Braille Books for Children could produce and distribute 100 braille books to blind children.
For every 100 books a sighted child has, a blind child may have 5. That is because braille books are rare and expensive, often costing more than $100 each! Children need books to learn how to read!
We give more than half of our books away for free, and the rest are distributed for an average of just $10 a book. We can do this because of donations and volunteers who help make our books.
Our mission is to increase braille literacy. Braille literacy is often the difference between poverty and prosperity for the blind. Seventy percent of blind adults are unemployed, but of the 30 percent who are working, 9 out of 10 read braille.
Please help give blind kids the literacy skills they need for success in school and in life.
