Walled Lake Western High School

At Western High School, we recognize the continued and growing stress levels in our students. In response, we have instituted two great programs - Dakoda, our therapy dog, and the Zen Den. Dakoda has been with us for the last two years and has made a significant impact on student wellbeing. The Zen Den is a room in the counseling office where students can take five minutes to gather their thoughts and calm down and is stocked with de-stressing activities and exercises that help students learn how to manage stressful feelings.
Students value these programs! For example, one student reported that the Zen Den allows them to stay in school rather than going home for the day. Another student reports that just seeing Dakoda calms their stress levels.
Thank you for considering our program, this donation will allow us to maintain and grow these vital programs for our students.
