SUMMER OF SHARING

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 65 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of everything we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.

2020 has been a year of unprecedented firsts. And while many things have changed and our summer activities may not be the same this year, Community Financial remains committed to helping the communities we serve.

10 Years of Sharing!

This year, we’re celebrating 10 Years of Sharing and we’re excited to support 60 great organizations this summer—with your help! Community Financial will donate $60,000 to nonprofit, educational and community organizations* throughout Michigan! That's $1,000 a day every Monday – Friday from June 8, 2020 – August 28, 2020.

Robostangs, Northville Robotics

Posted By: Anita Kompali (August 26, 2020)
Since starting in 2001, the Northville Robostangs have not only competed in robotics competitions but also have done countless community events to inspire, motivate, and support students in discovering and pursuing their passion for STEM. Every year we hold a Jr. FLL expo where students can showcase their robots and projects along with a robocamp in the summer to teach students how to design, build and program a robot all using LEGO robotics. We also work and mentor other groups in the community such as the girls scouts to help them get their STEM badges and the kids at the Methodist Childrenís Home Society and Detroit Jain Temple. With the $1000 donation, we would be able to continue these events and inspire children to get involved in STEM activities.

Lightning Robotics

I would like to nominate Lightning Robotics, which is an exceptional asset to the Plymouth & Canton community. Not only does it provide great learning opportunities for its team, but they give a lot back to the community. They host an annual Robots in the Park event completely free of charge to the community where the students invest a lot of time, energy and money to host it. They also do demonstrations and different events for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and SO many schools with great hands-on learning opportunities throughout the year. They are a self-funded group and with so much technology involved, it's definitely not cheap! They also provide "scholarships" for students who can't afford to join the team otherwise. They will put every penny to great use! Please choose them. My son is going into his 4th year and they are awesome!

The Educational Excellence Foundation

The Educational Excellence Foundation has been serving the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools since 1985. We provide grants and resources to teachers throughout all schools in P-CCS. During COVID, our fundraising has come to a standstill with our two major fundraising events cancelled. $1,000 would go a long way to ensuring continued support of our students teachers as we transition to on-line learning this fall.

Robotics has made such an impact on my son. He has gone from an incredibly shy, quiet freshman to a senior who is fully involved and loves training and helping the incoming freshmen! He also found his direction for his career through his work with the electrical group. So proud of this team and all they do for the community and the students!

Lightning Robotics help the Plymouth Canton community in many ways. They host STEM sessions for elementary aged children several times a year. They mentor my son's middle school robotics team. And finally, after waiting year, my son, an incoming high school freshman, is finally old enough to join Lightening Robotics!
