SUMMER OF SHARING

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 70 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of everything we do. Community Financial remains committed to supporting the communities we serve—but we need your help!

What GOOD Could You Do With $1,000?

Do you know of a worthy organization that could use some extra funds? This summer, Community Financial is donating $60,000 to nonprofit, educational, and community organizations throughout Michigan!*

That’s $1,000 a day every Monday – Friday from June 13, 2022 – September 2, 2022!

Begining June 1st, you'll be able to SHARE your story of which organization you think deserves $1,000 for the great work they do in our community.

Our 2022 Program has now ended. Check out this year's recipients!

Veterans Memorial Park of NE Michigan

Posted By: Rose Mary Nentwig (June 6, 2022)
We are a 501(c)3Veterans Memorial Park located in Oscoda, MI. Our main goal with this Park is to provide a place of solace and reflection for all our veterans and families as well as visitors. We recently installed a columbarium to house cremains of veterans and spouses which is especially symbolic as is located at our Park on the former Wurstmith Air Force Base. Our next project is a 7' X 21" mural to be placed on one of our five memorial walls. This mural will pay homage and respect to the youngest of our veterans who served and died in Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. This money would be a major help in getting us towards completion of that important mural. Respectfully thank you for your consideration.

Atlanta Community Schools Secondary English Classes

While the library in ACS still has books in it, it's been closed to checking out for several years and no longer has any newer releases. As an 8th-12th grade English teacher, it's become my mission to present our secondary students with new, relevant books to read in the library under development in my classroom. Beyond new releases and best sellers, I'm creating a diverse collection so that all populations are represented. I'm also looking to procure more non-fiction books that are of interest to our students. I'm trying to develop life-long readers/learners one book at a time.

Amber Reineck House

We are a non-profit that owns a sober living home for women in Livingston County. We are filled with 6 women on their next step in recovery. We also bring awareness to the stigma associated with people with substance use disorder and promote a supportive community friendly environment. Summer is coming and with 6 women at the house we are in need of seasonal items for outdoors. We would use $1000 to purchase a self-propelled lawn mower for them to mow the back yard and a propane grill for them to enjoy summer cooking.

Plymouth Pollinators

Posted By: Patricia Lloyd (June 5, 2022)
Like many people during Covid and Climate change,I am increasingly aware of my small plot of (suburban) earth. Milkweed, native plants, and an increase of pollinator habitat in general increases my small single footprint to Save The Planet. I notice I am not alone in this, . . .particularly amongst teachers, friends, and fellows:Plymouth Pollinators. Regular meetings and activities encourage us all to hang in there, and make important changes--in both thinking and actions. PlyPol is an important motivating factor in people making many small changes, beginning right here. Let's keep it going!
