SUMMER OF SHARING

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 65 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of what we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.

Strong business can only grow from a strong community that benefits everyone, which is why helping nonprofits, educational, and community groups* is a part of our culture. We believe these groups have a tremendous impact on the communities we serve and it’s both our responsibility and pleasure to support them. To help build stronger communities, we are reaching out to our neighbors and asking for your help.

"What GOOD could you do with $1,000?"

Which charity, community organization, or school group could use some extra funds? In total, we will be donating $60,000 this summer!  That's $1,000 a day every Monday – Friday from June 10, 2019 – August 30, 2019.

Our Summer of Sharing Program has concluded for 2019.

This summer we chose from over 290 stories submitted on this site and awarded (60) $1,000 grants to organizations in Michigan! Click the SEE tab to view the charities, community groups and school programs we were able to support this year.

Giving Songs

Posted By: Tracy Bins (June 1, 2019)
Giving Songs is a Novi-based 501(c)(3) that supports families with legally blind, multi-disabled children. A truly grassroots organization, Giving Songs was founded by Brent and Jaime Johnson after their son Jack was born nine years ago with profound disabilities. To date, Giving Songs has granted over $100,000 to seven local families to help them purchase specially outfitted, wheelchair accessible vehicles. How? By bringing the entire community together in the true spirit of giving. More than 80 local musicians have donated their time and talents to record songs for Giving Songs’ three compilation CDs (available as physical CDs or online for download). Local businesses have hosted events and donated auction items. All in the name of helping local families in need of support. A $1,000 grant from CFCU’s Summer of Sharing program would help Giving Songs be that much closer to helping another local family. Thanks in advance for your support!

Woman's Life Society Chapter 827, Chicks 4 Charity

Posted By: Tamara Brown (June 1, 2019)
Helping local women help local charities is the main goal of Chicks 4 Charity. Together, the women of the organization assist a different charity every month of the year through fundraisers or service projects. They teach woman how to organize and execute fundraisers and service projects. The outcome is not only funds or other needed assistance for a charity, but women who have been enabled to continue to serve the community on their own or through other organizations long into the future. Chicks 4 Charity has quietly served about a hundred charities in the greater Plymouth/Canton community over the past 10 years. This group of about 80 women is 100% volunteer driven. A $1,000 grant will go a long way to cover expenses that will allow the organization to grow and create a higher level of positive impact well into the future. Thank you!
