Summer of Sharing Campaign

Community Financial Credit Union has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for over 65 years. The word “community” is not only in our name, but it is the core of what we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.

Strong business can only grow from a strong community that benefits everyone, which is why helping nonprofits, educational, and community groups is a part of our culture. We believe these groups have a tremendous impact on the communities we serve and it’s both our responsibility and pleasure to support them. We are committed to the communities where we do business and have devoted both time and money to help them succeed. Partnerships with local school districts, The Salvation Army, United Way and American Cancer Society are just a few of the ways we are making a difference.

To help build stronger communities, we are reaching out to our neighbors and asking for your help. Think about it.

What GOOD could you do with $1,000?
What charity, community group or school group could use some extra funds?

Our Summer of Sharing Program has concluded for 2017.

This year we celebrated summer by choosing from the 262 stories submitted on this site and awarded 60 - $1,000 grants to organizations in Michigan*. Click the See button to view the charities, community groups and school programs we were able to support this year.

Plymouth-Canton Civitan Club

Civitan is an international service organization committed to making communities better through service, particularly special needs children and young people. For nearly 30 years, Plymouth-Canton Civitan Club has participated in Operation Good Cheer which matches children and adults in foster care with a volunteer. Each foster child or adult receives three Christmas gifts from their wish list. This program is sponsored by Child and Family Services of Michigan. Last year, over 5,400 children and adults received Christmas gifts. These are victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. This year the Club was able to provide gifts, including 10 bikes, to 103 children. All 309 gifts are distributed across the state.
$1000 would enable Civitan to expand its participation in Operation Good Cheer and other service projects including the Plymouth Stars Special Olympians bowling and Camp Civitan.

Loyola High School

Posted By: Sheila Nittmann (July 9, 2017)
Loyola opened in 1993 in response to the alarming dropout rate amongst young urban males in the city of Detroit. An all-male high school, its students are prepared for the next stage of their formal education, be it college, a skilled trade, or the armed forces. Our graduates are ready to give back to their community as 'men for others' and the past 7 years we have had 100% graduation rate AND college acceptance.

Loyola HS kindly requests support for our much needed Hunger & Nutrition Program, run by its Resource Classroom- a year-round intiative to provide healthy snacks, clothing and toiletries for its students, run by students. With our extended school day and extra-curriculars, offering assistance in small ways such as a banana or clementine or even a pair of new athletic socks extends to success in and out of the classroom.
